Bryan Patrick, Board Member
Bryan is an Arizona native; originally from Tucson but growing up in the Phoenix area. He returned to Tucson after high school where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Arizona. During his time at the UA, he developed an aspiring interest in live theater production, which led him to join the IATSE (stagehand union). He also worked part-time at a weekly newspaper and eventually accepted a full-time position as Marketing and Sales Coordinator. Taking on this opportunity, he worked in all aspects of running the weekly newspaper and eventually was made Operations Manager. It was during this time, he met his wife Judy, the financial manager of the paper. He and Judy regularly escaped the desert heat to Prescott, where they fell in love with the area. They were eventually married at the Yavapai County courthouse in 1998, with a plan to relocate to the Prescott area the following year. Unfortunately, a series of unrelated incidents landed them in Colorado Springs, Colorado instead.
In Colorado, Bryan continued his work in publishing, accepting a position for an international non-profit, the American Birding Association (ABA). He was named the Director of Publications for the organization in 2003 and was a member of the management team for the organization until 2011. Concurrently, Bryan continued to work part-time for the IATSE where he served two and a half (3 year) terms as Secretary/Treasurer, served on the Executive Board, and participated in various other committees. He traveled regularly as a representative to district and national meetings for the local.
