Jim Buchanan, Advisor at LargeJim Buchanan was raised in the Prescott area and lives in Williamson Valley on property he was raised on. He went to school in the Prescott area and raised his family here. Jim is married to Barb and they have 5 grown children, 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is a 66 year resident of Yavapai County and Prescott.
Jim retired in August of 2012 from a career in investment and financial planning. He worked for National Bank of Arizona from 2007 to 2012. Jim owned and operated James Buchanan Financial Planning in Prescott from 1981 to 2007. He was securities licensed and a CFP "Certified Financial Planner" and was active with the Greater Phoenix Chapter, Financial Planning Association including serving on their board and as president. Prior to that he worked for 15 years in the automotive service business. Jim and Barb were avid horsemen for many years. With retirement they have gotten out of the horse business and plan to do some traveling. They plan to visit the southwest and other parts of the USA including Alaska. Jim has been involved over the years with many local organizations serving in many positions from member to president. He has chaired many committees and worked to incorporate several organizations. They include Yavapai County Jeep Posse, Prescott Frontier Days, Chino Valley Mounted Sheriff's Posse, Yavapai Horsemen's Association, Prescott Area Leadership, Prescott Chamber of Commerce, Sharlot Hall Museum, Elks Opera House Foundation, Back Country Horsemen of Central Arizona and Back Country Horsemen of Arizona. He also volunteered with the Prescott and other National Forests maintaining trails and packing supplies for projects. Currently he is working on a Prescott High School class of 1964 reunion committee and is active with the Arizona Cowboy Poets Gathering serving as President and with Prescott Western Heritage Foundation previously serving as Vice-President, and currently serving as an Advisor at Large.. |
