Ray Herbeck, Board MemberRay Herbeck, Jr. is honored to be a member of the Prescott Western Heritage Foundation Board. He has been an active volunteer since the Western Heritage Center opened and is a performing member of the WHC’s Old West theatrical troupe, Arizona Frontier Legends. He is a critically acclaimed historical novelist, Americana musician (The Slackjaw Brothers) and former film/TV writer/ producer noted for his in-depth knowledge of Old West and Civil War history. His Mexican War novels, “Changing Flags, A Novel of the Battalion of St. Patrick, Book One” (Five Star Publishing) and “To the Color, A Novel of the Battalion of St. Patrick (Book Two)” (Five Star Publishing) debuted in 2020, each with a successful book signing event at the WHC. Both are doing well on Amazon and Barnes and Noble and both sported dust cover endorsements by the late eminent Old West historian/author Robert Utley. Among his 20 years of historical film production credits are associate producer of “Glory,” during which he worked with the late screenwriter Kevin Jarre (“Tombstone”); writer/producer of “The Gunfighters” and “The Soldiers” segments of the Warner Bros. TV documentary mini-series, “The Wild West;” and historian/technical advisor/re-enactor coordinator of TNT’s “Geronimo.” As a board member, Herbeck brings his extensive historical and entertainment expertise to the WHC in any capacity required.
